By parliamentary service on Friday, MPs were informed of the decision, which follows similar actions by western allies. New Zealand’s parliament will ban TikTok from all parliamentary devices amid growing international security concerns.

The country’s parliamentary service informed the country’s lawmakers on Friday that the video-sharing app, which is owned by China, would be removed from all parliamentary devices at the end of the month. They also received an email stating that “the Service has determined that the risks are not acceptable in the current New Zealand parliament environment.”

The email states, “Based on our own analysis and following discussion with our colleagues across government and internationally, the decision has been made to block the TikTok application.”
